IN RESPONSE TO LAly: 6/15/2011

Thank you for the honest criticism. The staff and I remember your table well and did find it interesting that in your review you failed to mention the fact that one of the women in your party was so drugged or intoxicated that she passed out on the table and slept through dinner which is why I intervened in the first place. OUR VERSION: 8:00 PM reservation on an exceptionally busy Saturday night for 5 guests upped to 6 guests over the phone earlier by one of the women in the party - we prepared a TABLE FOR 6 GUESTS. At 8:45 PM the party (45 minutes late) arrived at last with only 5 guests waiting on the 6th to join them. After 30 minutes and several visits from the server, the group finally decided not to wait any longer and to order at last - at 9:22 PM the group placed their order (as noted in the computer). With the exception of the one ""sleepy"" guest, ALL ordered chicken fingers and fries (from the children's menu). As dinner was being delivered, the server approached me to make me aware that one of the women was passed out at the table. Immediately I asked how much she had to drink and instructed the server to stop serving alcohol to the group and to offer the check, at which time the gratuity was added. However, ironically, as it turned out, the entire group was only drinking water, so it stood to reason that the woman must have become so completely incapacitated before actually arriving at the restaurant. The group then asked to split the check, which the server graciously obliged. When the woman who was passed out at the table then finally woke up, she argued that she wasn't hungry, didn't in fact order any dinner, and then threatened to walk out on her check. The server then again approached me for advice. Three of the women of the group were very reserved and polite, the other two were very vocal (including this reviewer). It wasn't until I had to threaten to call the police, phone in hand, standing at the table, that the two very belligerent and plaintive women actually paid their bill. While one woman (the reviewer in this case) was in fact very articulate that evening, her less responsive friend was the most unintelligible guest we've ever encountered in these many years in business, and I think that she knew that her ability to reason with the police at that moment would not have gone over very well. Two of the more quiet women apologized personally and sincerely to me for their friends' behavior as they left the restaurant after paying their individual bills without complaint, for which again I offer my thanks. However, as I said that evening to the others, PLEASE DON:T COME BACK TO THE RESTAURANT (the only time in my 25 year career that I've ever had to request this of a guest).. . . and at the end of all this nonsense, what was the amount of the added gratuity of the reviewer, you ask? For the time and trouble of the ""POOR GIRL"" who had to endure that kind of behavior as a server for almost two hours? $2.38! Seriously? You should be ashamed of yourself! . . . and ps. as anyone reading this comment has probably gathered by now, how the reviewer felt that she was treated had LESS THAN NOTHING to do with the fact that she was black and everything to do with how this group of young women conducted themselves in public - learn some manners ladies! more
