I began dancing with State Street dance studio in 2005 after my second child was born. I was looking for a studio that not only offered adult dance classes but for a place that blended professionalism with camaraderie for all ages. I grew up with dance being a major part of my life, so I also wanted to find a place that my children would have the opportunity to explore dance and see if it brought them the joy that it brings to my life. Every year I have seen many improvements with the studio. Feedback is taken very seriously, and the staff works hard to meet the needs of the parents and dancers. The classes cost more than a park district class, but you certainly get your money?s worth here and I am so pleased with my experience that it is well worth the money for me to pay a babysitter so I have a chance to get to a class at night! The staff have always been friendly and courteous and communicated very well in a variety of situations. It?s so nice to have the viewing windows for each room and the chance to try out the many different classes offered. The studio has been well cared for, and I appreciate the large rooms that give plenty of space for dancing. The instructors come from a variety of experiences and are very dedicated and qualified.
I felt fortunate to be a part of the studio?s performances of the Nutcracker. As an adult dancing in the show, you are aware of the full context of what it takes to bring a show together. The young dancers were so full of excitement and joy with their dancing that I knew I was in presence of extraordinary group of people that work together to dance for all the right reasons. Professional dancers are hired to be a part of the show, and this really enhanced the complete experience.
If you?re looking for a dance studio where your daughter or son can express themselves to their greatest potential, State Street is the place. My daughter began dancing with the studio last year. She has been exposed to the art of ballet in such a positive way that she looks forward to class every week! After her first performance on stage for this June?s production of Coppelia, it was evident how well the staff and dancers and families cooperated together to create a production that impressed not only the audience but the dancers themselves! The studio has a variety of classes for beginners as young as 3 up to adults and dancers participate in many community activities and fundraisers. Dance on!
