I got what I expected. A haircut that will get me through the next 4-6 weeks. Occasionally I luck out here and get a really great cut, about every third time. So, that saves me the trouble of paying for a John Jayish type place. When I don't, that's where I head every three to four cuts. The students are great, and I'm glad to help out. I am often at a loss to explain what is "wrong" with my cut so I wonder how constructive I am. Technically the cut was "right" but just didn't feel as good as it does when it is spot on. You can't beat 15 bucks and an excuse to escape for a couple hours (since the process takes some time here due to the student's "educational" requirements). Try it out, but be warned that you will have to say no to a free makeup consultation, and buying the Aveda products (which I do not use since they make my hair feel dirty, and not a in a "that was easier to style since it was dirty" kind of way). I do know a lot of people who rave about them, though.
