I have lived in this community for 3 1/2 years now. I am a middle working class man. I recommend to any middle class working people to NOT rent at this location until Heathergate clear out the low income tenants. See below for my complete review.
We fell victim to a robbery in the middle of May. I figured it happens everywhere but as we looked into it more and spoke with the Toledo Police, it's a regular occurrence at this property. Apartment robberies are at a 2 - 4 month interval within this community and an eye witness spoke of the robbers having a key to our door (all our keys are accounted for). Toledo Police also confirmed a key was a tool of crime in other break-ins on this property. We don't know if it is a master or a special one-time-use illegal key available online.
I am obviously biased on this property because of what happened, but let me speak of some other areas of this property to help you. (*) Security: They have a courtesy officer 5 nights a week. He is awesome and goes a good job when he is here. The grounds are well lit too. (1) Parking: could be better. Many potholes around but you can find them all over the city. (2) Appearance: The buildings are fairly nice but due to poor upkeep from the tenants you may find screen doors off their hinges, cars & junkers with flat tires, litter scattered around (though they try to keep that up) and crooked window blinds. (3) Office staff: I think their internal communication needs a bit of work, HOWEVER, Mark is AMAZING and I highly recommend you work with him if you visit the complex. I could all ways count on him to get information processed correctly and quickly and he is well informed about the property. He probably cannot share EVERYTHING with you but he is your man. They are pretty good with being on-top of problems and maintenance. I gave 4 stars because of the communication issues. (4) Maintenance: I think they have much going on but I know they do the best they can and they respond quickly. (5) Condition of unit: I'd say 5 stars for mine. I've kept it nice though. Can't speak for the others. (6) Noise level: if you don't like screaming children, random shouts late at night (11pm) or loud music where u can hear the bass resonating from the other side of the complex then it's up to you. It's not really my thing. (7) Over all rating is 2 stars because of the community. This place has much good and they can rebuild their reputation once the low income tenants are out.
Heathergate Club Apartments is NOT WORTH the money you'll be paying for even a 1 bedroom apartment for the community you are getting.
