Not satisfied with my purchase from Ferman 5/5/2011

I purchased a used car mid april 2011 from Ferman. I thought the price was reasonable, but the tires were almost worn our (very near the wear bars). When I brought this to their attention I was told that they checked the tread depth and found that they were within their safety limits during their thorough shop inspection of the car. I mentioned that the tread wear rating on the tires was only 260 (very low) and so would need tires very soon if not immediately. No comment. I wanted the car, and planned to negotiate some on the price due to the worn tires, but after getting sidetracked with insurance and finance issues late in the day, I forgot to haggle over the tires. A side note- when I took the car for a test drive, some idiot pulled right out in front of me, but when I hit the brakes the car just slid (on pavement) due to the worn tires I believe. Thankfully I missed hitting the guy by inches. Anyway, when I remembered the tire issue, I had already signed all the papers and bought the car oh well- my mistake. Then when Ferman emailed and called me asking if I was 100% satisfied with all aspects of the purchase, I told them no and brought up the tire issue again. I was told the manager would consider the issue and get back to me. So far, I haven't hear from him. So much for 100% satisfaction. If you tell them you are 100% satisfied they like that, but if you tell them you are not, they don't do anything about it- so why bother asking??? Looks like I'll be forking over about $800 for new tires now after only putting about 1000 miles on the car (an 09 camry with 18,000 miles on it - real good tires, right, that only go about 20k miles before they need replacing. To top it all off, I called the local toyota dealer who had previously serviced the car to get a copy of the maintenance records, and was told that they had done paint and body work on the car. I was even more upset now. This wasn't disclosed to me by Ferman but when I contacted them about it, they said that it surprised them since nothing shows on the Carfax. I wonder why their ""thorough"" shop inspection of the car didn't find that there had been body work done on it- or maybe it did but they forgot to mention it to me. They did have me sign a copy of the carfax which seemed weird. Not much I can do about either of these things now- except asking them for a little cash toward new tires (which I did and got none) and write negative reviews. more
