During a routine walk on Friday May 12th with our dog Cupcake, we noticed that he stopped to try & urinate more often than normal. We watched him for the rest of the walk and noticed that he seemed to really be struggling to urinate every time and only small drops and not a full stream would come out. We took him to our local vet and they took x-rays which revealed that he had at least 5 small stones that showed up in his urinary tract. As our regular vet does not perform operations of this magnitude, they recommended an animal emergency clinic close by for the procedure. We called to discuss an appointment time for the procedure and were told that the cost would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $5000 or more. Well, like all people struggling in this economy, having to sit down and weigh a dollar amount against saving the life of an animal that you've raised, cared for, and love is never an easy task. Ask any animal lover out there & they can tell you exactly what we are talking about and what thoughts we struggled with.
