Bottom Line Service 4/5/2011

My car needed new bolts for my steering column and the left front spring raised for tire clearance. I was quoted at $447 for the job. Then they said they couldn't do the job without replacing the boots on the power steering bringing the total to $967. Then the manager called me up and said it needed some other random part bringing the total to $1700. I just took the car and had a friend fix it for $200 as well as put in a new radiator for $200 bringing my total to $400, which would have cost $3000 at Pep Boys. Go to an independent mechanic that will do the job for 25% the cost of Pep Boys. I also lost two wireless mice($25 value). The loss doesn't matter, but the fact the repair guys stole something so cheap frustrates me. I'm lucky I didn't leave my iPod in the glove compartment like the last guy. more
