I have been coming to this place for over 10 years. The food is above average for a latin restaurant and the prices are low to average. Lunch specials are very good and affordable. This is basically a Cuban-Puerto Rican place with husband/wife team, one from Cuba and the other spouse from PR. If you like fufu (for Cubans) or Mofongo (as Puerto Ricans call it), you are in for the very best you can find in the states. Nice and crunchy mashed green plantains with crushed garlic and with the chicharrones (crushed fried pork rinds) on top. Order it plain or in a wood mortero with fried pork chunks (masitas de puerco fritas) or any other meat or fish offered. Yellow rice (arroz con gandules) is also very good. This is more of a PR dish than arroz con pollo (more of a cuban dish) which they don't make. Bistecs, moros and your other latin american and Cuban staples are better seasoned here than La Carreta or other more established places. Service is excellent and they have take out.
