My $10,000 ring took me $100,000 of effort to get right. I liked the basic design of a ring in the case, and they were happy to design a setting for my diamond based on that design. We took a lot of time agreeing on the design, which I appreciated. When I got the ring, there was a difference in the curve of the surface from one side to the other. They said that they could buff it down... no problem. When I got the ring back, it was completely flat on both surfaces and not rounded like I wanted. I was very upset, and needed the ring remade. They did remake it for me, and as my wedding approached (days away!), I came in to look at it, and it was made in the wrong size. They resized the ring, but I noticed that the prongs were sharp and irregular, which I accepted. Because it was a white gold ring, they rhodium plated it, and apparently the rhodium plating system was old or dirty, and the ring ended up with black specks and cloudy splotches that wouldn't come out with gentle buffing. In the end, I took my ring, gave the jewlers a piece of my mind, and had a lovely wedding. I have since had the ring touched up by Fred Meyer Jewlers, and it looks gorgeous.
