Saved us alot of money 4/5/2011

I had to do a double take when I saw only 2.5 star average for Mathis Bros. They are big, some one-to-one attention always gets lost in big companies of any kind. We, our parents, and our children have shopped with the Mathis family for years, before being at their current location, back when you had to negotiate your price. I always shop around, and nearly always come back to them. The trick is to find a good sales person and return to them. May I suggest: JOEL WOODWARD in sales, ANJALI BHASIN as designer, and MICHAEL in rugs. Anjali's services were FREE ($00.00) but worth LOTS!!! She took 2 seconds in each room to see some things that took me 2 years to decide on. I was reluctant to use their store designer for fear of being encouraged to pay higher prices. Instead, Anjali saved me money in several ways- AMAZING!!! They brought rugs and other items TO OUR HOME for us to look at, it was like shopping in Greece with the rugs laid out before you- but at better prices and no travel. I know, all we ask for is perfection. The company is not perfect, but try shopping for furniture in Chicago or other cities, you'll beg for a Mathis Brothers type store for selection and price. I've always recognized Mathis Bros. as a good deal, but Joel, Anjali and Michael made our shopping experience truly enjoyable- even for my husband. We will specifically ask for them andschedule our store trips only when they're there. Yes, we have to wait for a special order rug to come in and, yes, we have the inconvenience of waiting for replacement of a slightly imperfect chair, and know I may need to keep checking in on them. But, even so, I'll be thankful for the choices available to me and the money I saved while shopping there, and also for the comfort of knowing that, at some time, I will be taken care of. They've never failed us yet.Reading some of the reviews reminded me of traveling and how people can get so frustrated about delays and unexpected glitches. When you ask them about their trip, the glitches are what they talk about. How much better off we can be when we opt to think of those glitches as making the trip more memorable, the more inconvenient the glitches, the more you remember the trip- even the good parts. When you're sitting comfortably in your new, reasonably priced furniture (even if it's later than you planned), I encourage you to look at your glass as half full rather than half empty. If you decide not to return to Mathis Bros, count on paying a little more. If you follow my suggestions on contacts there, I can almost guarantee that you will also have a good shopping experience (unless it's your choice not to). more
