We've lived in Kailua for a few years but have never taken the opportunity to go to Boot's & Kimo's. There's always a line and the locals all rave about how good the food is, especially their signature items. We had in-laws visiting, so thought it might be the perfect opportunity to go out for breakfast and try B&K. We went on a Friday morning; the wait was really not too long - maybe 10 minutes, which was good. The inside is clean and bright, with a pro-sports theme. Tables are close together, but we weren't bothered by that too much. The service is not great; the servers can't seem to answer any questions about the menu items. None of us ordered any of the ""signature"" items, i.e., banana-mac pancakes, which may have been our mistake. My wife ordered strawberry crepes; turns out they are SUPPOSED to be cold, although this is not indicated anywhere on the menu. She would have preferred something hot. I had a couple of eggs with corned beef hash and toast. Everything was cold, and the hash looked to be straight out of a can - not ""homemade"" at all. Overall the experience was disappointing for us, especially with all the ""great"" things we had heard. I could have probably saved a few bucks and gotten the same level of service with better food at Denny's. Sorry B & K - despite the big buildup, you guys don't make the cut in my book.
