BigeBear, you are sadly mistaken! I have owned a Rainbow for over 35 years purchasing my first one when I was 23. It never wore out but I wanted a new one so gave gave it to a family member who desired one for many years! She was thrilled to get it! I never had ANY trouble with it in 25 years!!! It was serviced every 5 years whether it needed it or not!
My second unit is an E Series and the experience in the past 10 years has been equaled to that of the first unit!
Perhaps your salesperson was not well-informed on all the features and benefits. That it sad because you are the one who was cheated from a high-quality and valuable piece of equipment.
If one were to 'cost-average' what people spend on replacing a cheap vacuum every few years he/she would realize that a one-time investment of quality outweighs the up front expense many times over!!! Not to mention the quality of performance and health benefits of cleaner air to breath.
I have never needed to replace any of my carpets since owning a Rainbow; it is dirt that wears out carpets! Most people don't even calculate that expense in savings!!!
