good but not great 3/6/2011

I came here a few years ago for my friends birthday dinner and after watching RHoBH I decided to go and check it out again with a girlfriend. I went on a Wednesday night and the place was half full. The design and ambiance of the place is absolutely beautiful and so are all the people that work there. Ken, Lisa, their son, Martin and Giggy were also there. Lisa was very sweet, she was talking with a few of the guests and taking pictures with them. The service was good however the food was only okay. I had the Caesar Salad, Crispy Rice & Spicy Tuna, Penne ""Arra-Blanca"" and Cr?me Brule. The Caesar Salad didn't taste good at all; the dressing was sour and the Parmesan cheese slices were hardened and old. The Penne Arra-Blanca is basically penne arrabiata (spicy sauce) but with tiger prawns; I ordered it without the prawns because I am allergic to shellfish and the sauce was too watery and nothing special. The Crispy Rise & Spicy Tuna was good but different, it had a sliver of red bell pepper on it, which was odd to me at first, but I enjoyed it. The Cr?me Brule was delicious, it tasted exactly how it should of and had raspberries and strawberries on it. The table we were seated at was inside and the doors were open to the tables located outside which was nice. However, someone sitting outside was smoking and the smell came to our table and was very unpleasant for us. I don't usually mind the smell of smoke but not while I am eating and people were complaining about it. Overall, the prices were very reasonable considering the location and I did enjoy myself. I might come again for lunch but try something different from the menu. I take off 2 stars because the food wasn't that special. more
