Larry, Peter and the entire Camp Canine staff have been an important part of our lives for almost 13 years. Our beloved black Lab Oscar became a camper when he was just 4 months old and was a joyous, happy and devoted camper until shortly before his passing a few weeks ago. Oscar loved Camp so much! He would start turning around in circles and wagging his tail whenever we turned onto West 73rd Street. He did a little doggie jig when he got through the door and raced back to the big dog's room. Camp was a family affair -- our two girls, Oscar and the rest of us loved the Halloween parties and just stopping by to look at the dogs at play. The staff knew Oscar so well and met all his needs -- from a late night pee-pee, to special dietary and medication requests, and towards the end of his life, when arthritis made it difficult for him to climb up and down the stairs, to carrying him gently and lovingly. They noticed small changes in his mood, appearance or condition and always gave good and sound advice. They loved him dearly and he loved them. We were so heartbroken when he passed away, and Larry and Peter comforted all of us and touched us deeply with a gift in Oscar's honor to Trees of Life. We feel so blessed to have been a part of the Camp Canine family, and apart from my parents, there were absolutely no other people we would ever trust with our dearest baby boy.
