I'll start by acknowledging that I know the real Mike Stern. he was a great plumber who needed to retire and enjoy his life.
Stern Plumbing and Stern Service Co are now run by a Steve Ortiz. I called them up because I needed my condo's pipes changed to copper mostly because the old galvanized pipes were leaking, forcing me to turn off my water. Mr. Ortiz came to our home as soon as we called because he knew it was an emergency.
While at my home, he was polite and looked over what needed to be done. As he left, he promised to call back or e-mail with a price quotation based on the work and what he saw within two hours.
Unfortunately he never called or e-mailed. I tried calling his office and even his own cell phone. He decided not to return my calls and I haven't heard from him, now three weeks later.
I would have appreciated at least a call to let me know he wasn't interested in doing to the job.
I would not recommend this company to anyone anymore. It's very sad that these guys bought a company with a good reputation only to soil it with horrible customer service.
