Growing up in rural Carolina, I didn't have access to a dentist when I was growing up, so proper oral health-care was pretty much non-existent. However, when I moved to California in my 30's I ran through a streak of terrible oral pain.
My wisdom teeth had come in crooked and were impacting my molars, I had a bad case of gingivitis and was experiencing tooth decay caused by extensive cavities that had gone untreated. I was a mess, and I was embarrassed about going to see a dentist.
Finally, after the pain and embarrassment was to the point where I didn't like opening my mouth to smile for a photo or get close to someone and talk, I scheduled an appointment with the Long Beach Dental Group.
That was nearly 11 years ago, and today my teeth and oral hygiene are much better. I had my wisdom teeth extracted, the cavities filled and got on a plan to get regular check-ups and cleanings to ensure that oral care became a strength of mine, as opposed to a weakness.
In fact, I just had my most recent appointment this morning and now I don't need to go back for another 6 months. I don't have a lot of experience seeing other dentists, but I do know that this place has treated me like a human being, and has taken care of my needs for years.
