Illegally overcharged I took in two women's cotton shirts and asked the price for laundering shirts. Was told the price was ""$2.85"". I am a woman, I was alone and there was no men's clothing in my bundle. I specifically asked for the shirts to be laundered, NOT dry cleaned. When I returned, I was charged $4.40 for each of the shirts. I had already dropped off a second women's shirt with the same instructions, but upon pick up, I was again charged $4.40. I asked why and was told that the womens' shirts cannot be pressed on the ""mans"" machine. I showed the countergirl an article explaining that it is ILLEGAL in California to price services such as laundry and haircuts differently based on gender. I asked for a credit for the diference. The owner called me, he was very rude, telling me ""too bad"" that I was ""crazy"" if I thought I was owed a refund and that he could justify his prices for ""hand pressing"".
