I contacted Northwest Resumes to help with writing a new resume. I haven't worked in a couple of years and just recently moved to Seattle. I assumed my resume needed a boost.
I will give NW Resumes a lot of credit for asking a lot of questions so that there would be a lot of information in my new resume. Kevin was very patient and thorough. He emailed my resume and cover letter in the time frame he said he would.
I ended up using the resume that Kevin wrote for approximately 2 months. I snagged two interviews in that time. During one interview, the interviewer commented on ""my"" use of the word prowess in my resume. I had been super excited to have a professionally produced resume, that I don't think I read it very closely or tried to read it from an interviewers point of view. Frankly, I sounded pretentious, and I imagine recruiters saw right through it. The format was a little awkward as well.
I have been using my old resume for the last couple of months with much better results. I've gotten many more calls and have been on 10 interviews. It is written in plain English rather than business jargon.
Kevin did do a great job with my resume, but I think it was a little too ""uppity"" and definitely not worth the $375 I paid for it. I ended up buying a big, fat resume and cover letter book for $20 at Barnes and Noble, which was a much better use of my money.
