We did not see Marcello, or anyone really acting as Ambassador or greeter fo this otherwise overrated restaurant. I was excited because of some reviews I'd read, but the ones at this particular site really resonate more with what is happening at Sirena. While we were seated promptly and the Maitre'D is most charming and competent (perhaps more of what you'd hope the rest of the staff would be like) the balance of the staff and sense of ownership falls short big time. No rolls, no salt on table, pepper mill did not work, getting someone to bring it was a hasstle. Noone asks if you are enjoying your meal, and food is plopped down and the waiter is on to the next table. Food arrives within seconds of ordering so no time to just chill and enjoy a glass of wine (or two, but you don't have the time). The chopped salad would be fabulous if it weren't so wet with dressing, but the presentation was attractive. All the ingredients are there, (fish is perfect and so is the bolognese sauce) and other entrees looked delicious. Sides (a delicious spinach and garlic) came after dinner is served. Price was fine, but again -- service was too harried to really care about you, and one leaves with a sense of wonder as to what the fuss is all about, and where's the boss on one of the busiest nights of the week and season. Good food if you don't care about ambiance, personality of the staff and rushed service. We paid and left and noone really cared whether we came or left -- so we'll just keep on going.
