I was curious about the 7-pound burrito, as I would imagine many people have been, so I ventured out to the new Jack N Grill on 92nd and Sheridan to see if this monster lived up to its reputation; I was sorely disappointed. Big: yes. Good: NO. Obviously, the forces behind JNG have done something right to be showcased on Man v. Food, so after seeing how the burrito was prepared on the show, I figured I just couldn't lose. Wow, was I wrong. If JNG advertised their burrito as six pounds of seasoned potatoes with a smattering of everything else (by the way, they use a "ham puree" for their meat ingredient not pieces of ham as seen on TV; sorry meat lovers) this burrito would be accurately advertised. I had to send out a scouting party to find the eggs and cheese that typically come in a breakfast burrito and they came up wanting. Are corners being cut to save money? In any event, the burrito was a let down and I will not be ordering it or going back to JNG ever again. Having sat down in their invitingly styled restaurant, the best part about it was the service and the queso. Both were very good, but their food was only a cut or two above Casa Bonita's fare and that stuff is pure prison food. Save your money and head out to a different Mexican restaurant if your want good food or go to JNG if you like big, bland portions and long wait times.
