We have not dined here for quite a while now, but we thought that we should give it a shot again.
When I had to wait an hour to get our food I was thinking in my head that I should have listened to my fellow yelpers! We had to wait literally an hour to get our first order, I am not exaggerating. I was counting the minutes! So if you do not mind waiting for a long time to get a table and to get your food for just a mediocre sushi, ignore what I am writing here by all means.
We ordered one of the boats. Teriyaki chicken tasted like it was pre-cooked a day before and heated up right before they put it on the boat.
Seared halibut appetizer did not have any taste at all. It tasted like fish without any seasoning even with their lemon sauce on top (imagine that!). Definitely not worth $11 for that.
We ordered baked salmon, salmon skin, caterpiller roll, fuji roll, philadelphia roll, and a few other rolls since there were about ten people in our party. Salmon skin hardly had salmon skin in it. Cream cheese in the philadelphia roll was just way too soft. Caterpiller roll was ok to me, but way more avocado than eel for some in our group (don't get me wrong, I like avocado, but there was hardly any eel).
We ordered a few assorted sashimi and the fish were fresh enough, but definitely not one of the best.
I guess Ichiban is not ""ichiban"" after all. This place used to serve great food about 5 or 6 years back, but the quality and service had gone way....down since then.
We are not going back again for sure. If the food was just outstanding, I would not have cared about waiting for an hour to get my food, but there are many Japanese sushi restaurants way better than this place around the area for that.
