Miller Optometry... maybe NOT 12/22/2011

I have had a generally terrible experience with Miller Optometry, and I will emphasize with a story. Stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on 465, I knew i wasn't going to make my appointment directly on time at 3:00 pm. Out of courtesy, I called in and explained I was late and will be in a few minutes after 3. Immediately Georgia- one of the workers at the front desk insisted I reschedule. I proceed to explain that it will only be about 5 minutes after 3 and apologize for any problems that may result. Arriving at exactly 3:09, I arrive at the front desk and wait in line. As I move forward in line, Georgia ignores my presence at first, and immediately addresses the person who just walked in the door (rude!). After being inhibited by the awkward situation, I regained composure and expressed my sorrow for being late. She replies, ""well you only shifted our schedule by about 15 minutes, so we are going to have to hurry, but everything's fine."" (my mother always told me ""you can't burn the food and make it taste better with salt and pepper!"") Needless to say, I rushed through the paperwork and performed my eye examination. Dr. Miller is very professional and informative, also relatively speedy. So after my eye examination, I walk into the main lobby where Dr. Miller insisted I look at sunglasses. I looked for about 5 minutes, aghast by the unheard of prices, and walked to the front desk. (anyone would infer that I was ready to pay and leave) The person working the desk was absent, and I hear her address me from across the room, ""would you like prescription or regular sunglasses?"" I reply, ""I would just like to order my contacts now."" The 20 minutes I spent at the front desk waiting for the attendant (not Georgia, but someone else I can't remember) to process my order were arduous and irritating. I have never felt so relieved to end a doctor appointment EVER. The whole gig took about an hour and 30 minutes, and half was waiting. At Miller Optometry, I was befuddled by inconveniences from a particularly incompetent staff that believed that they were providing quality service. I hope this review will shed light on the minds of both the staff and prospective patients. more
