I'll just say why I gave this place two stars right away: there was mold on my dessert. I ordered the almond torte, and they served it to me with a nickel sized green mold chunk on the side of it. It was OBVIOUS in the dimly-lit dining room, so I have no idea how both the kitchen and our waitress missed this. It was HUGE and GREEN. I showed our waitress immediately and politely, and she whisked it away and brought out the dessert menu for me to re-pick, but I was so turned-off by that point, I didn't order anything else. She never apologized, and no one else who worked there did either, so I can only assume she told absolutely NO ONE about this incident. The owner of the restaurant came out to us at the beginning of the meal to chat (we had a group of 9 for a birthday party), so I would imagine he would have come out to apologize if he had known because he seemed like a nice guy.
Our waitress was also new, and sort of quick and rude with her responses when we asked specific questions about the meals. She clearly had no idea about the dishes, and made no effort to find out answers to our questions. She would just use ""y'know..."" a lot in her answers. For example, ""Y'know...it's like a white fish"" was specifically used. No, we don't know. That's why we're asking. This place is NOT cheap, and we were shocked about the mold at the end of our meal (especially because I'm pregnant and there is the possibility it could have killed my baby had I ingested it). Made me re-think everything I ate. Obviously, we will never be coming back.
