The instructors and some students are a clique. If you are willing to leave your social life behind and a embrace them, then it might work for you. The school teaches 3 styles. First is Hung Gar. Sifu Snyder has been a student of Hung Gar for fifteen years and still has not completed the system. This is mainly due to the fact that Si Gung Bill Smith will drag you around with a carrot on a stick never giving out the whole system. This is unethical and as someone who trained there for years I feel sorry for the students there. The Wing Chun system taught is incomplete and not taught correctly. The wooden dummy form should be taught to the student in three parts as they progress. Once again this is Si Gung Bill Smiths fault for not teaching an essential practice tool. As far as Hsing I goes there is a GREAT deal of the system left out. You will not find an in depth study of the internal aspects of the 5 elements and 12 animals.
So to conclude if you go to the school avoid Wing Chun and Hsing-I like the plague, you will waist your time and money. Remember that you could spend 15 plus years learning Hung Gar. Now let me explain that Kung Fu as most arts is a pursuit that lasts a lifetime, However it is INSANE for you to spend the time these students have spent and not have the full system.
How can you be a Sifu or Master of a system where you are missing the pinnacle form of Hung Gar?
NOW this school doesn't mess around and you will learn to fight/defend yourself well, it is rigorous training (or at least used to be) and you will with effort achieve a good level of martial prowess. I would bet on some of the old school black sashes as some of the best fighters in Utah. That is not the case with newer students as it seems the school is turning more and more into a pay for your rank establishment to keep working.
I'm getting long winded here.
You can get a doctorate in rocket science and brain surgery before you complete a system here, especially Hung Gar.
