I had my car towed to Naper Auto Works because the starter on my car went out. I asked them to call me before doing any work because I didn't want to be over charged for a simple job. They called me the next day and said that it was going to cost me 411$ to put on a new starter. I had previously looked up the part and it cost around 120$ to buy. They were trying to charge me 411$ to put on a 120$ part. I spoke with multiple auto shops and all of them said it doesn't take much more than an 1-1.5 hours to change the starter (so I got charged 290$ worth of labor which is like 200$ an hour for labor). In the end they knew I had no choice because I had the car towed there and it would cost me to tow it somewhere else. They off set the high labor cost by saying the parts are more expensive.
Also I asked them if I could buy the part for them to install they said they won't do it. These people are thiefs
