Lacks morals, ethics and customer service! 11/4/2011

Beware of this business and it's lack of ethical and moral practices. Make sure you get the monthly fees and promises made directly from the mouth of the owner, because if you are promised anything from another employee they will not be honored. I signed up with one of the Instructors. I was promised a monthly rate that covered said number of classes for a said duration time. We purchased what was agreed upon and wrote down the promises so as not to be confused. 3 days later after my son had already attended 1 class and was in the middle of his second class the owner came to me(during the class) and said that there was some misunderstanding and that the schedule would be different by one day and 1 1/2 hours less time a week and the cost of the service was going up $50.00 a month. When I told her that was not was what was agreed upon, she said that I had not done business with her and that her employee misqouted the rate and that she simply would not honor what he promised. I said we have a contract, we wrote it down, how can you not honor this, she was out of words and said, I can't. "" It would not be fair to the other attendees that were paying a different price and you can see how happy your son is, if I saw that my son was having such a good time; I would just pay the increase and let him have fun!"" I was stupified. I said, ""this is how you want to do business?"" ""You are asking for $50.00 more a month than what was expected and are shortening the time frame covered expodentially."" She was increasing loud, rude and defensive. When the conversation had started and she had said that she would honor the fee for the first month and after it would go up $50.00 a month, I asked if at the end of the month, she could return the one time registration fee of $60.00 and then I would stay for the one month and be on my way. She absolutely refused and said no refunds. But, after standing over me with hand on hip demanding $50.00 more a month and referencing how happy my son was and how she could not allow me to pay less than other parents even though I had it in writing and it was what was agreed upon; she raised her voice and said ""You want a refund, you don't have to come here, you can be refunded your whole amount and you can go somewhere else!"" Mind you my son was still in the class, I was mortifiied with embarrasement. I went ahead and accepted the refund, knowing that the relationship had been torched and that I would not be comfortable coming back regardless of what could transpire. When I asked for the refund she said ""How long do you want me to honor this previous agreement,"" very abruptly. I said, ""I had told my son he needed to stick with it 3 months at least."" Fine she said ""3 Months and then you KNOW what the price will be, 3 months!"" she scorned while making a fist with her hands. I was absolutely sick in the stomach, I said the relationship has already been torched, I will take a refund. After more references about my son being happy and how I should not be doing something that would make him otherwise, she finally agreed to the refund but said that she would cut me a check and not refund my credit card. I returned the following day per her instruction and the instructor who made the promises was there to greet me and say that the owner had decided to refund my credit card and would not be giving me a check afterall. This establishment should not be teaching children respect, morals and self control if they do not possess these character traits themselves. Thank you for listening. There are several Martial Arts Training Studios in the area, find another one for your young child!!! more
