Five stars for competency of the doctor, one star for the financial part of the relationship. I paid much more money here than I ever did for other dermatologists. I have a high deductible on my insurance and with the previous 2 dermatologists I had, who have unfortunately both retired, I was able to arrange to simply pay cash for an office visit, which kept my payments down to a reasonable sum. Dr. Tanghetti's staff would not even consider doing this. They billed my insurance company for every procedure, which left me with a payment of more than $400.00 for an office visit that took less than 15 minutes. There are 7 or 8 girls working at computers behind the front desk. I got the feeling that the place was an insurance-billing factory. What was very revealing for me was my follow-up visit. I was charged $48.00 to have stitches removed and to be given the results of my lab test, which took about 5 seconds to deliver. The cash fee for a regular office visit is $35.00. I had to pay $48 because according to the gal collecting the money, I had to meet my deductible before I could be charged the normal fee of $35. Never mind the fact that I had asked if I could be a cash patient in the beginning. I'm sure I can get comparable quality of service elsewhere for a more reasonable price and have a more reasonable staff person to deal with. I won't be returning, which is unfortunate because I liked the doctor. However, it is the doctor's clinic, and ultimately he has to be held responsible for the way the financial part is run, as his attitude is what determines office policy, not the other way around.
