Not great when the chips are down 11/7/2011

I went to Dr. Kaimakis for 15 years and thought he was doing fine, except possibly for a fairly high turnover in his staff (with varying quality of assistants). I had very little work done over those years, though, and when it came time to start replacing old fillings, it didn't go well. After one procedure, I was in agony and tears when I left the office. Dr. Kaimakis assured me the tooth was probably just inflamed. When I called two hours later to say I was still in unbearable pain, I basically had to beg him to call in a prescription for me (which I had never had before--so I was certainly not drug seeking). After weeks of living in (somewhat lesser) pain on constant ibuprofen, I went back in and he admitted the tooth probably cracked during the procedure. A root canal, a crown, and a hefty couple of bills later, I decided to find another dentist. Sure, my tooth might have still have cracked with any other dentist, but I did not appreciate the near total lack of regard for my discomfort, especially when I hadn't ever shown that kind of behavior in so many years. I never feared the dentist before, but those weeks of pain have left me anxious about every procedure now. more
