I am a parent of 3 kids all of whom have been going to Irving Kumon, as their first place to read, write and do maths. 1st kid now for 5 years, 2nd for 4 years and 3rd for 2 years.\r
\r
My kids are not extra ordinary and I cannot spare more than 5 hours a week on all 3 of them. I am aware when kids lose confidence early with their peers in class it can have a long lasting effect, losing motivation and going into a viscious cycle of sorts. Basically this is what I was looking at a minimum from Kumon and I got it.\r
\r
What I got from Kumon - Kumon has helped my kids build confidence in their class, the kids started out a step ahead of other kids in their class, having gone to Kumon and maintain this lead todate.\r
\r
My kids go to a public school and the eldest one has been selected for the Gifted and Talented Track. I have my good and bad days with the instructor there but I know Kumon helped make that happen. She also skipped Grade 1. When it came time for my second kid, her school teacher called us and asked if we will be ok progressing her a grade ahead, they gave her CBE Exam and my second kid also skipped a Grade and is now an year ahead.\r
\r
We are busy parents and we have not been able to give the time we should have to our kids, but that's exactly why we have been sending them to Kumon. \r
\r
Over the last 5 years, I have understood that not all Kumons are alike, we moved to NY for a brief period and having tried Kumon there for a while it was very clear - that the Kumon Instructors are the key in defining how good a Kumon is. I have some experience with the Kumon in Euless too and I have come back to Irving Kumon. Kumon's methodology is repetition, practice and more practice and having seen the results we have learnt to be patient with that. Bottomline - If you are ready to understand the Kumon Methodology and trust the Kumon instrucor, giving time to your kids, with a little patience you will reap the benfits. It works.\r
\r
Giving 4 stars as there is always room for improvement. \r
