We had a number of bad experiences with this company and will not use them again.
We got introduced to Lajolla Express via Groupon. The offer was attractive and offered that we could buy a round trip transportation to Phoenix airport, '1 per person, 1 as gift' as well as use them '1 per visit'. Consequently we bought 2 Groupons, one for myself and one for my wife. We scheduled the company for a first pick-up, Everette arrived on time, was professional and everything worked out well. We did not use a Groupon at that stage and paid in full. When returning to Phoenix we used our first Groupon and were very surprised when Everette told us that he will not honor this Groupon for a round trip as he did not consider this '1 visit'. I was pretty perplex, as a so called snow bird who comes to Phoenix (first leg of visit) and leaves again (second leg of visit) I must admit that I did not understand that at all.
When we left Phoenix again a couple of weeks afterwards we scheduled Everette again, this time using our second Groupon. Everette arrived late; he had forgotten his mobile and got stuck at the gate of our housing area which was not manned yet at that time of the day. We actually borrowed him our mobile so that he could call another customer. Despite the initial delay everything worked out, we got to the right terminal one time. On our return flight we were held up by bad weather conditions, we informed Everette early on so that we would not need to come to the airport at 7pm, the originally scheduled pick-up time. He came back to us via text message and stated that he would not pick us up later! This put us into a difficult spot, when we finally arrived we struggled to find other means of transportation as we are living way north of the city, rather than 35 minutes it took us over 2h to finally get home. Interestingly enough we saw other passengers from our flight that had no difficulties with their scheduled pick-ups.
When we contacted Everette the next day to see whether he would honor the unused part of our Groupon for a later trip his short answer was simply 'no'.
This was now the 2nd time where Lajolla Express would deliver only 50% of the purchased service. Combined with the hassle of having no pick-up the previous evening we were very upset. We consequently informed Everette that we consider this behavior fraudulent and would leave negative feedback for him. He called us more or less right away to tell us that we had committed fraud as we had bought two Groupons and that we also did not tip him enough.
