We hired In and out Movers to pack our entire house and move us across country April of 2011. Their quote was much less than the competitors. We never saw the contract until the day they arrived. They seemed to have packed everything well. But the owner kept pushing us to have the shipment sent out right away and placed in a storage facility. This was neither what we wanted nor what we agreed to. We agreed to a full service mover to pack out belongings, store for approximately a month and deliver them to our new residence. We found out the following day that the quote was grossly off and it doubled our cost. Then we had to field phone calls every day for a week wanting to send our shipment out and deliver it to a storage facility. We finally had to get rude with the owner because it was starting to feel like harassment. \r
We gave In and out Movers an address and a date when we were moving in the last week of may, we did have to wait about 3 weeks for our belongings, but I understand with fuel prices the way they are they need to send a full truck out.\r
Delivery day arrives. First issue was a MAJOR one. Our $4000 nearly brand new mattress and box springs were wrapped in plastic and placed on the outside of the truck. They bring the box spring in and the first one is fine, the second one is soaked and smells strongly of mildew. We have them remove take the box spring out of the house. Then they brought our mattress in. There were several water stains on the mattress and it was damp. We found out from the driver who was contracted to deliver our belongings that he paid In and Out Movers to pack the truck and they jammed 4 orders in. Ours was the last that they forced into the truck. The boxes were all bent and damaged because they had tried to fit more than the truck could hold. One of our dining end chairs arm rests was completely torn off in a bunch of pieces. Also a dresser was scratched through the plastic and blue blanket it was wrapped it. We documented all of this with pictures and the driver signed off on all the damages. \r
We called the owner of In and Out Movers while the driver was still here, and the driver spoke with the owner and told him there was a lot of damage. This was the 27th of June. The owner said for us to call him back on the 6th of July. Reluctantly we did this. He wanted us to send him the pictures and weights of the items. We emailed him the information twice to 2 separate emails. He kept saying he did not receive them. Then when he finally did look at them he said he was going out of town for 3 weeks and would get in touch when he returned. He told us to have the mattress cleaned. We called the company that sold us the mattress and they advised against that because cleaning only gets 4 inches down and bacteria and mold could still grow in the mattress. We told him cleaning the mattress was not an option and could be compromising to our health in the long term. \r
When we finally got back in touch with the Owner of In and Out Movers then we were told we would get $350 back because they based the reimbursement on the weight of the damaged items. So the damages they caused were well over $6000 and we were only going to get $350 back. We have yet to receive payment from In and Out Movers and it has been over 4 months since our delivery.\r
It was a very important lesson learned for us. Never Use In and Out Movers. What they did to our belongings was negligent. We have reported the company to the BBB\r
