The new owners are No Good.
When they got the place, they eliminated everyone's benefits, slashed wages, and then did the classic ""brain-drain and fire"" move. All the cool people were suddenly gone, along with the eclectic music and fun atmosphere.
* My favorite is that the day after the nearby cafe burned down, these guys Raised Prices!! * It's the most expensive coffee in the Haight.
Honestly, despite being a somewhat regular customer (at least after the good cafe burned to the ground), I was never once warmly greeted, and although the woman (I assume sister) would be somewhat cordial, there's something genuinely chemically wrong with the guy. He doesn't blink. He doesn't smile. There's no emotion. He obviously doesn't care about the products, the store or the customers.
There's something wrong going on here, and it looks like a lot other recent reviewers agree.
