Unnecessary procedures, that didn't cure my animals. 10/14/2011

Dr. Perez always seems to be pushing for more analysis...perhaps he's just trying to be thorough, but common sense should prevail. We had some tests run on our 21-year-old cat, who was clearly dying of old age. He said her liver enzymes were elevated at a 'six' and should've been lower. When I asked him what 'six' meant, he couldn't really give me an explanation, as if he didn't really know what the numbers meant. He wanted to run more extensive (and expensive) tests, but c'mon...I probably had the oldest cat in the Bronx...it was her time to leave us. My dog had a severe ear infection. He insisted the animal had to anesthetized so he could take a good look in his ear and clean it out. $250 and a week later, my dog's ears were bleeding. We brought him back, and he basically admitted he gave him the wrong medicine, and once again insisted on anesthesia. Long story short, I spent $560 total, treated my dog religiously for 2 weeks with the medicines he prescribed, and the ear infection remained. Took him to another vet...infection was gone in 5 days. New vet said anesthetizing my dog for an ear infection was 'a little strange.' more
