We had an incredibly bad experience with Raoul…
- PRICING / RE-PRICING. Raoul tried to raise the agreed upon price (estimate) by 50%!!! at the most critical point of the project (kitchen covered in plastic and doors on order under his name. He apologized for not communicating any price increase when we changed the method of painting. Not only was there no upfront change to the estimate – he also did not follow his own contract which required updates to inform us of the amount of work. But Raoul claimed that the 50% increase was a “discounted” amount and that he should really be charging us 70%+ more than his estimate. Although he apologized in person he was unwilling to go below the 50% increase and we had to fire him.
- In a job that was supposed to be “about a week” Raoul took over 6 weeks and finished NONE of the 3 simple tasks: install door knobs/hinges/doorstops, install a kitchen sink and paint kitchen cabinets.
- Raoul ordered the wrong style of replacement doors. We’re going to just install them and live with it.
- One of Raoul’s workers put a hole in our wall when trying to install a doorstop. He left the door without a doorstop for 3 weeks and our 2yr old reopened the hole. Raoul then blamed the hole on our child in email.
- Speaking of email… working with Raoul is like Dr Jeckel in person and Mr Hyde on email. When we were discussing the issue of his price increase he sent highly combative emails quoting ourselves back to us.
