I won't go into great detail about he Christmas experience that we just went through, but I will say that four trips to the emergency room, out of state, with everyone treating symptoms and not listening to the greater issue of what we experienced with my 10 month old son was unwelcomed. While he wasn't near death, he hadn't been able to keep liquid or solids down for six days, losing weight, breathing was difficult to do, and lethargic because of all things that he was going through,no exagerration at all. \r

We have been with Oakbrook now for the past four years with both of our kids and while things don't always go our way with treatment, the bigger take away from this is that they listen extremely well. Dr. Kirby Smith saw our son and listened to the nightmare of a trip, and when finished the storym he consoled and empathized with us for the nightmare. He immediately said he knew that our son was in a bad way. He presented astute options on care to move forward and let us discuss and ask questions as how best to proceed. \r

Dr. Smith had us in the hospital and getting care within the hour. The best thing that we took away from the hospital visit (four days) was that Dr. Smith visited us, every morning and night; he placed observation calls to check on my son's status and spoke in plain English to my wife and I as we worked through the issues with my son during that brief stay. I have never felt more comfortable and at ease about a situation that was going very bad until we got home to speak to Dr. Smith at Oakbrook. \r

The professionalism on his part, the staff that supports Oakbrook in the front office has stepped up over the time that we have been with them. Dr. Tillman has surrounded herself with a caring group that is continuously striving to do the right thing within the confines and boundaries of their medicine practice. I take my hat off to them and thank them for their time. For anyone that reads this and is close in the Summerville area who is unnerved about their current pediatric care - take the time to look at Oakbrook.
