My wife had washed our dog and was washer her collar and our dog managed to get out. We made daily trips to the local shelters and checked the lists of dogs in shelters outside our area. My wife went to Beagles and Buddies with the hope she was there, but she wasn't.
My mom went back a couple days later and our dog was still not there. Then a nice lady at the desk said she thought they did have our dog, but she was hidden away from public view. The lady went someplace and brought our dog out. The owner was very hostile and demanded payment for her rescuing our dog. In spite of the fact she tried to hide our dog from us, we paid her the money and took our dog home.
We checked her website later and she had since posted a picture of our dog with a story about her unfit and careless owners who got lucky this time.
She may be guided by the best intentions, but her actions are not appropriate.
