Dr. Merkouris is a great doctor. She spends time with her patients and always comes across very caring. However, her charge for regular vaginal delivery is far higher than your insurance would consider ?regular, fair, and customary.? In other words, your insurance would pay only so much for a delivery. Dr. Merkouris charges about $1000 more than then a regular insurance company would cover. You are stuck with the difference. Most likely she outsources her accounting to an independent billing company, and they will try to collect every single penny. If you don?t come up with your money, they will send you to collections. So ask questions before hand. You will be stuck with a medical bill far greater than anticipated or fair!
