My wife and I have been to Syrah twice. The first time was in Aug 2008, the first time we were in Santa Rosa. The second time was in May...the 2nd time we were in Santa Rosa. We have reservations there in 2 weeks...which will be our 3rd visit to Santa Rosa. Catch my drift?! \r

I noticed the reviews for Syrah were a little ""dated"" on this site, and most have to do with poor service. Considering the poor servers likely didn't last too long at the #1 restaurant in the area, I'd like to post my review giving KUDOS to the TOP NOTCH service we have received at Syrah during both our meals. \r

In May we got the chef's 7 course tasting menu + wine + foix gras. Yep...the whole nine yards! From the moment we sat down, we received amazing (yet not over-bearing) service. Every single facet of the meal was timed perfectly. We were fresh off a 4 hour plane ride, and were not in the mood to be rushed out of there, and they understood and delivered a well timed and relaxing night. \r

Now for the food. Without detailing every course, I'll just say that it was the greatest meal my wife and I have ever eaten...EVER. We are counting down the days until we get to go and give Chef Silvers a shot to out-do himself! It will be extrememly difficult, but we are up for the challenge if he is! \r

One quick thing...portions are surprisingly generous at Syrah. There are other high-end restaurants in the wine country region where you will pay $300 for a meal and walk out hungry because you paid for the name on the sign out front and museum-quality artfully decorated food on your plate. Syrah's plating is amazing, don't get me wrong...but you will NOT walk out hungry! \r
