Southwood Properties is one of the worst places to live.
I lived at their apartments between elm and cherry just east of national. The apartment was old and expensive. I asked numerous times to have water spots fixed, clogged drains fixed, screens fixed etc and it was not done in a timely manner. I went without hot water for roughly a week due to a piping issue.
The checklist is a joke. They zoom through the apartment with you very quickly when you move in and go over it with a fine tooth comb when you leave. They kept my deposit and I had to pay an additional 150 dollars to paint over 3 scuffs on the walls.
They will take 50 dollars out no matter what to clean the carpet.
Be very weary of all of the paint clauses and wear and tear. They do not believe in normal wear and tear.
The management was rude.
The free internet never worked. I had to buy my own. The doors are paper thin.
the bathrooms are disgusting. I had one that was ""remodeled"" before I moved in and 4 months in the caulking around the window in the bathroom began to lift and grow mold due to poor circulation in the bathroom.
A homeless person was living in a utility closet and there are always people dumpster diving in the trash.
My car was broken into and they did nothing to help.
I paid for a reserved parking spot and there was always someone else parked in my space. Never once was anything done to help alleviate the problem. They simply said it was my problem.
