A MUST for true coffeehouse lovers! 9/7/2010

What a wonderful experience!\r The Sentient Bean is absolutely the type of coffeehouse I look for locally or in my travels, in that it is very much a non-corporate chain business, with a warm, funky atmosphere in a lived building. It definitely has the vibe that makes you just want to relax with friends and enjoy your surroundings. The coffee is as strong as you need it too be (I tend to order drinks that pack enough of a punch, but aren't overpowered by syrups), but the flavor is definitely there. You can tell that they use beans from quality sources. A nice touch: they offer a locally-produced delicious honey as a sweetening option ( I don't normally like honey in coffee, but this was great). The service? Very sweet. I would have engaged in conversation more with them if they weren't so busy (but NOT too busy to take good care of us).\r Another pleasant surprise: the food was GREAT! One of us ordered a breakfast burrito because he was unexpectedly very hungry, and needed something right away. It wound up being the best food he had experienced so far in our trip! We all wanted to go back and try some other dishes as a result!\r If I lived in Savannah, I could easily see making The Sentient Bean a regular hangout spot. I really wished I could have visited more times during my visit. more
