It was my daughter's birthday today and she asked to go out for a pancake breakfast. So, off we go to the Inn on Coventry. We had been twice before and were not impressed, but not too much to choose from nearby home on Labor Day, so we thought. hey. maybe, just maybe, this time will be different. No such luck.
It apparently just gets worse.
The place is dirty and unkempt. The tables are not cleaned properly between customer visits. The wait staff is rude, unreceptive and in a rush to feed you and get you out the door. My daughter's food came on a dirty plate (food encrusted on the sides and bottom of plate); the coffee was miserably weak and unsatisfying; my husband's Eggs Benedict was vile; the high chair for my infant had not been cleaned from the previous baby's meal (scraps of food and greasy EVERYWHERE - I would hate to see that thing under a microscope. When we asked that it be cleaned the manager did not think that wiping down was necessary but that it sufficed to just remove the larger scraps of food with her bare hands and proceed to the next table WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS. Germ Farm!
Oh, and those awesome pancakes they're known for are really just a regular pancake batter laden with melted ""butter"". They don't offer real maple syrup, not even for a price. There is no fresh orange juice and the waitress looked at me like I was alien when I asked her if they offered fresh OJ.
Finally, be ready to watch a few regulars go ahead of you in line, and be sure NOT to call them on it or your visit will get worse by the minute. We are foodies and we've been around the block a few times, here at home and abroad. Suffice it to say this place is on our ""scary & stay away"" list.
Pros: ""Stroller parking"" available (outside the front door of the restaurant. Apparently no one has stolen a stroller since the place opened).
