We stopped for dinner at Lulu's Cafe while visiting LA because I figured it must be decent since it has been around since I lived in the neighborhood in the late 1980s. But it was a memorably bad meal: overcooked, lacking flavor, all-in-all very poorly executed. And it didn't help that the place was not very clean. The only redeeming feature was the friendly service. When I got back home, I checked the reviews and was shocked to find that they are so glowing. Some of the menu items looked familiar, but this place must have changed ownership because it bore no resemblance to the cute, yummy-sounding restaurant in the reviews (or in my memories). So, diners beware!
