I have been going to Ragin Cajun since it was a little store front restaurant. If I was a condemned man, this is what I would want for my last meal (Sorry, Mom!) Been going for over a dozen years.I have had numerous items there, enjoying the pork chops and both the shrimp and crawfish etouffee. But my favorite go-to is the Gumbolaya combo, which is 1/2 red beans and 1/2 jumbalaya w/ a scoop of gumbo on top. My mother was born and raised in Baton Rouge and this is the kind of food I grew up with, with cornbread instead of the french bread they serve. I have introduced the place to many, many friends, never had a bad experience. I think one of my friends summed it up best when he called me after a lunch we had there:
""When you are there, you eat more than you should because it is so good. And on the way home, you wish you had brought some home.""
Not to mention, the cool decor, cajun music playing and always friendly wait staff. Wish they were open on Mondays, 'cause now I am hungry!
