A Lunch To Look Forward To 8/31/2010

Sutton County Steak House in Sonora, Tx is our lunch stop when driving from the Texas Coast to New Mexico. Located in a Days Inn Hotel, it was an unplanned stop when we first stopped here out of sheer hunger. it is a family owned place and the owners are said to also own cattle and a butcher shop in the area, so says the menu. It's fame comes from its steaks so stick with those. Some local people seem to like the daily lunch buffet which changes each day, Mexican one day, fried catfish the next. But the steaks are fantastic. I prefer the filet, but ordered the ribeye on our most recent trip this month. The onion rings are huge and double ringed inside each crunchy circle of golden breading. The service is old school Texan. Fast, efficient, no frill and sometimes full of ""darling"" and ""honey."" Think Flo. We look forward to the tall yellow sign sighting and our stop here during a looong drive. Exit #400 on I-10. more
