I've been all over Richmond trying all of the well-received restaurants, however, possibly my favorite Richmond restaurant is Athens Tavern. Located across from Starbucks and a street down from Curbside on Robinson, Athens Tavern is easily accessible. \r

A relatively small restaurant, like most Carytown haunts, Athens Tavern rarely has a wait (during rush hour on Friday and Saturday possibly). Only once, have I had to wait to be seated. Indeed, AT takes reservations so if wait time is an issue, it can be bypassed with ease. The interior decor is quaint and homey. The wait staff has the specials memorized by heart and never fail to go the extra mile for their customers. \r

The standard menu is classic Greek cuisine. However, the expansive list of specials, normally consisting of many mainstay dishes, adds much that may be lacking from their permanent menu. For both Greek foodies and non-Greek foodies, Athens Tavern has a dish for everyone. The specials include several seafood dishes along with additional traditional Greek entrees and appetizers. One dish in particular I love from the specials is a Lamb and Humus appetizer. \r

I recommend this restaurant to all my friends in Richmond. If you like Greek food, take some time and visit Athens Tavern. You won't regret it!
Pros: tremendous wait staff, beautiful decor, high quality food
Cons: sometimes can be crowded like all Carytown restaurants
