I never write a review until after visiting an establishment three or more times, and it is very unfortunate that I have to give this charming little pub such a low rating. \r

The first time my wife and I visited we just missed the dinner menu, but had a wonderful time eating from the 'bar' menu. I had a very tasty corned beef quesadilla, and my wife had their kettle chip nachos. Everything was excellent, fairly large portioned, and hot when it reached our table. Our server was on top of her game that night, keeping our glasses full, and clearing the empty plates while holding polite conversation. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience. \r

The second time we made sure to arrive during normal dining hours, and were seated immediately. The restaurant was hosting a poker night, which filled their main dining room and led to our first bad experience. We were taken to a small side room, one of many cozy alcoves along the outer rim of the main dining room and promptly forgotten. Ten minutes later, we ordered our drinks, got them immediately, and were forgotten again for another ten minutes, wondering how to get refills. I ordered the corned beef and cabbage, and my wife had their shepherd's pie. My wife's dish was piping hot when it came to the table, and would have been very tasty if not caked with salt under the potatoes. The corned beef dish was, by far, the worst dish I've ever had in my life. I was served absolutely raw red potatoes, a mountain of soggy cabbage, what I assume was an accidental (or last minute addition) blob of sweetened carrots, and 2 (that's T-W-O) paper thin slices of corned beef drowning in a sweet mustard sauce. Being a professional chef, I know that there is no excuse for anything they put on that dish. After eating the slivers of meat in just one bite each (they were just that small), I was left with nothing edible on an over flowing plate. It took another half hour before we were visited by our server who informed me that they had two new people in the kitchen, took the entire plate off the bill and asked us repeatedly to come back again. \r

Since we were 1 for 1, I figured a tie breaker was only fair. We received fast service, but not one thing brought to us was even close to what we ordered. Wrong drinks, wrong food, and even the wrong check found their way to our table a minimum of 2 times each before I was forced to ask the server to just ring up a new correct check and let us go home. Again, we were asked repeatedly to come back, but receiving two extremely poor services cancels out one pleasant service in the middle of the night. \r

If the managers or owners of Hagan's are reading this, please take my advice and review your staff. Both the front and back of house staff need retraining and more supervision. I am in no way picky when I go out, but I will not tolerate bad service and food during a lull. Had this happened during the dinner rush, I would not have been so critical. I do applaud you for making a good amount of your menu in house, and am impressed with your overall menu and restaurant layout. The major issue that needs direct attention is your quality control department. They are simply missing far too much.
Pros: Very cozy environment, interesting/traditional dishes
Cons: The service is VERY hit and miss, as is the food
