The coffee was quite good also. As for the rest, I would have to say, things could be better here especially at this price point ($12-$15 avg.) for breakfast.\r

Cricket really wanted pancakes this morning and after a quick Google search we found the Juno Beach Cafe not far distant. \r

We arrived at 11:30 on a Saturday morning and thought ourselves fortunate to have missed the crowds that many other reviewers had mentioned.\r

After 10 minutes of sitting without menus not one person made an effort to approach us. Finally, a waitress came over and explained that we were "lost" in their table diagram and no one was assigned to our table. Not a good start, but it wasn't that big of a deal as we were on a light schedule and were enjoying each other's company. \r

The menu was large, perhaps a little too big. Judging from Cricket's pancakes, their 50+ year old recipe is simply terrific. Some of the other items were a little less impressive. They offer a selection of "skillet" dishes but because they prepare them in a ceramic skillet instead of a cast iron one, the results were a little less than stellar. There was a lot of moisture at the bottom of the skillet which made the dish messier to eat. It tasted good, especially with the house hot sauce. Also, we tried their potato pancakes which were excellent. \r

It was the service that kept causing us problems. When we tried to get a refill on the coffees we observed our waitress across the room eating her own meal oblivious to anything and everyone except her fellow servers who were all gathered round her oblivious to our needs or anyone else's. Finally one of the other servers noticed our plight and took care of us.\r

Some time later our server reappeared and without a word presented us with the bill. I then asked for a Mimosa ( it was after noonish by then) and Cricket opted for one as well. By this time, our tiny table was covered in empty dirty dishes and Cricket's doggie bag containers. She never took them and when she returned with the drinks she made a comment that there was no room for them and we had to pick up our coffee cups from the table to make room. Shockingly, she turned and left without removing the dirty dishes and we sat there with coffee cups in hand chuckling at each other. \r

I would definitely return for the pancakes, but next time we will know what to expect from their idea of service.
