Why post only good reviews 7/26/2010

Like many of the past reviews we have enjoyed great service. Within the past year the quality of service has been in steady decline. Disorganization, poor customer service and higher costs are but a few of the current problems. The last issue which has caused me and my family to find another place of servie was an altercation with Kelly and Dave. We dropped off the car at night because we finally got it started and wanted someone to look at it before it stopped. It had already been there and they charged $50 to spend 10 seconds to spray some lube on the pieces. The next day we followed up with a call because they had not notified us. They said they could not fix it because a part was missing. I then asked to pick it up at 630pm and Kelly said ok. When we arrived no one was there and the shop was closed up. We drove around the block to pick our kids up and when we drove back by they were there. I walked in and they wanted $90. They told me they had assembled the gear shift. When I confonted Dav he confronted Kelly which said he should be paid for printing the diagram. Dave cut a deal for $40 for doing nothing. Sorry Dave, a mechanic who cannot be trusted is not worth any amount of loyalty. RESPONSE FROM Smith Specialty Automotive: I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations. We always strive to provide quality service at fair pricing and itâ??s disappointing when that is not enough. The first time we cleaned the spilled drink out of the shifter the best we could after testing the system electrically and charged $42 plus tax. I explained that if that didnâ??t work we needed to replace parts. The second time your instructions were â??Help, gear shift still stickingâ? but the shifter was disassembled and pieces were missing. We spent time evaluating the problem and searching dealerships to order the missing parts but you told us not to repair it: your husband would put it together. We donâ??t normally have cars come in to not be repaired and I told your husband there would be no charge. He insisted on paying $40 so we charged $32 plus tax. As for not being here, we had to run a quick errand after closing, sorry you had to wait a few minutes. We also learned that sometimes your car will crank but not start. We didnâ??t know that and did not test for that. I would like to help in any way we can and will apply the amounts paid toward the repair. I already have one of the parts here, which you are welcome to if you want to just drop by. Please let us know how we can make this better. - Dave more
