My husband and I stayed at Hotel ICON a few weeks ago and it was amazing. Aside from the fact that this hotel is one of the nation's oldest skyscrapers, it is also one of Houston's oldest landmark buildings, having first been built in the early part of the 20th century as a bank.
The architectural details in the hotel are absolutely wonderful as they have maintained every last bit of original design as they could and it shows from the original bank vault behind the front desk, to the original mirrors that adorn the old fashioned elevators.
The rooms are impeccably clean and imitate French style but what is truly breathtaking is the night time view of downtown that you can get from your windows.
The staff is absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable.
The hotel also offers a free shuttle service that takes you anywhere within a 3 mile radius of the hotel - and the service is quick - you usually get picked up within 10 minutes or less of calling the driver. Definitely a great place to go for a staycation or quiet getaway, or simply a great place to stay if you are going to a Downtown event.
Pros: Great location
Cons: None
