Horrible Service 6/14/2010

I have been using Firehouse for my automotive maintenance and repair needs for the last year or so due to their proximity to my workplace. When it became evident that my brake pads were in need of replacement, I took my vehicle to Firehouse. My brake pads and rotors were replaced (neither of which was unexpected) and I was called to pick my car up at lunch. I noticed immediately upon leaving the shop that my new brake pads made a loud 'squeaking' noise each time they were applied. I have heard of this happening with new brake pads so I decided to drive the car for a few weeks to allow the pads to 'break in' before taking it back to the shop. After two months of constant squeaking, I took the car back to Firehouse so that the new pads could be checked. I dropped the car off just before 8AM and was called within an hour and informed that my car was ready to be picked up. I was told that something had been 'bumped' when my wheels were put back on after the replacement of the brake pads and that an adjustment had been made to remedy the squeaking. I picked the car up during lunch and, to my surprise, my brakes began squeaking within one mile of the shop. I took the car back the next day and informed the staff that my brakes were still squeaking. I again received a call within an hour stating that the noise was actually coming from my rear brake drums and that I would need to pay an additional $115 (after already paying $310 two months prior) to have the drums machined to remedy the noise. I explained that I could clearly hear the noise from the front of my car and that it would be a great coincidence that my rear brakes began squeaking on the exact day that my front pads were replaced. The technician assured me that this was indeed the issue and that this would end the noise. I received a call an hour later stating that my car was ready to pick up. Again, when I picked the car up, the brakes were squeaking (still from the front) within a mile of the shop. I called Firehouse immediately upon returning to my desk and was told that I should come in a take a drive with them so that they ‘could hear the same thing that I was hearing.’ I have now been hearing the same noise for over two months and have been scammed out of $115! I will now spend more money to find a shop that will take the time to accurately diagnose the source of this noise and correct the mistakes of Firehouse. Pros: Proximity to work Cons: Poor customer service more
